A special golden anniversary ribbon cutting took place Tuesday (Aug 13th) Tuesday afternoon at 300 East Liberty Lane in Danville. The building at the far west end of the Turtle Run parking lot, the ImpactLife Donor Center, was marking 50 years of collecting blood donations to help local and area patients.
Still known as the Danville Elks Blood Donor Center; this building became part of Community Blood Services of Illinois 2011, and now is part of the network of ImpactLife donor centers after a name change in May of 2021.

Impact Life’s Kirby Winn says if you want to make sure a blood donation goes to someone nearby that’s in need, please volunteer to stop by and donate. He says the reason to donate, to help people live better lives, has always been there.
AUDIO: In spite of all the change; particularly with technology, donor eligibility regulations, the way that we do things; so much has changed. But that core mission has all remained the same. That pleases us very much. Connecting folks in the community who want to help others; we are the provider for hospitals here locally. You know; the VA, and OSF Health Care; or Carle over in Champaign-Urbana if you go that direction at all for health care. We are so pleased to have that community support; not just the donors who visit here, but also groups sponsoring blood drives.
