ABOVE: Seven Point of Illinois CEO Brad Zerman saw his new dispensary in Danville, know for cannabis products, including snacks and drinks; as well as vinyl records; open in time for the “4/20 Cannabis Holiday” in April.
Danville’s Seven Point of Illinois cannabis Dispensary opened this past spring, and is now the recipient of $240,000 from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. Twenty-three different state businesses, declared as “social equity dispensaries” by the DCEO, have received money from this grant.
Deciding factors included social equity status, financial need, and financial resources. Seven Point CEO Brad Zerman said it was a long process with a lot of paperwork to turn in. He also says his company qualifies as “social equity” because 51% of the ownership is either minority, or has home addresses in areas declared as “a disadvantaged area.”
Seven Point of Illinois officially cut the ribbon for its Danville facility on May 16th
Zerman says the funding will be invested into inventory and construction improvements still planned for the new building.
AUDIO: We were excited to get the e-mail that we were approved, and to get some working capital to keep growing the business. We’re getting more inventory, so we need working capital to pay for more inventory. We have a couple of outstanding construction related expenses this is going to go to; to raise additional funds for working capital for marketing to keep growing, you know.
Zerman says a planned drive-thru window is ready to go, pending legislative approval. He says another hope for the future is to possibly put in a cafe with local food selections. Zerman says he’d love to have “food, records, and weed under one roof.”
Seven Point of Illinois is located at 380 Eastgate Drive along the west side of Lynch Road. Other dispensaries in the area are Sunnyside, in Danville along the east side of Lynch Road, Parkway along Georgetown Road in Tilton, and a possible future nuEra dispensary to be built by Mariworks off of Southgate Drive, on the south side of I-74. Mariworks received a special use permit in June for plans to build a dispensary and truck stop.
