Some local events in Danville and Westville are marking the 23rd anniversary of the 9-11 attack on America. American Legion Post 210 in Danville is inviting all first responders, doctors and nurses to stop by the Legion for a free meal. Bob Balla is the commander of Post 210…
{AUDIO: “Everybody that’s a first responder can come out here between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. – either eat-in or take-out. There are Italian beef sandwiches, with chips and a cookie, and either water or tea to drink. We also tell everybody (that) if you bring your spouse, or the general public wants to come in – it’s $7 for the same meal we give out to all the first responders.”
Balla says it’s important that we never forget what happened on September 11th, 2001…..
{AUDIO: “As many of us were running for safety, the first responders always head-in. And many of them gave their life or gave injuries that day. And so, it’s time that we honor them, and we stop once a year and do this specifically to honor those people.}
