DANVILLE — The Danville Area Community College board will meet Thursday in closed session in a special meeting about the investigation into a dispute between Danville Mayor Rickey Williams Jr. and DACC President Stephen Nacco.
The board will meet at 5:30 p.m. at Vermilion Hall, Room 302, at DACC, 2000 E. Main St.
Board Chairman Dave Harby said the investigation is pretty much completed, “unless something else we ask them.”
DACC’s legal counsel, Jerry Davis, and vice president of human resources, Jill Cranmore, conducted the investigation. Davis nor Cranmore have returned phone calls from The News-Gazette.
The investigation stemmed from a disagreement over whether to welcome undocumented immigrants to the area, which led to Williams last month approaching the DACC board with a letter about Nacco’s alleged “deplorable behavior” when confronted about the issue.
Nacco has stated he will “absolutely stand by a process that will fairly evaluate all the facts.”
Harby, who has been having health issues, said he will be at Thursday’s meeting.
“The internal investigation is pretty lengthy,” he said. “We need some time to look at it to be fair.”
He said Thursday was the first time everyone could “all get together and discuss it.”
Cranmore and Vice President of Operations/Secretary to the Board Kerri Thurman were out most of last week, Harby said, in addition to board member Maruti Seth being out of town.
Harby said there could be some discussion in public on the matter, but no board action is expected. Harby declined comment on how the investigation was conducted.
Williams said he’s not been informed about the investigation.
