A special Thursday night Danville Area Community College Board of Trustees meeting on the recent dispute between DACC President Dr. Stephen Nacco and Danville’s Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr has been suspended until 4 PM on Monday, September 16th.
After nearly two hours in closed session, with Nacco, Williams, and numerous others waiting outside the board room, the meeting was adjourned without any announcement or comment on where the Board of Trustees stands on their investigation into allegations made by Mayor Williams against Dr. Nacco.

The dispute goes back to Nacco’s desire for Danville to participate in a federal program that would welcome illegal immigrants to Danville and provide them assistance with housing and job training. Nacco was in favor of this; Williams was not. That disagreement led to an alleged major incident between the two following a private Vermilion Advantage meeting.
Prior to going into closed session, the DACC Board heard from four public speakers; including DACC staff union president Kathy Hunter speaking in favor of Danville Area Community College, and Danville Alderman Ed Butler speaking in favor of Dr. Nacco.
