DANVILLE — Bath & Body Works in the Village Mall has been closed temporarily due to a plumbing issue, according to the mall’s owner.
According to Kira Anderson, with Village Mall owner Jimmy Virk’s office, the mall’s property manager reported that Bath & Body Works hired a plumbing contractor to make a sewer repair within their premises.
On Thursday last week, the contractor came to make the sewer line repair, and in the process broke a water line. The contractor has completed the repairs to the sewer line and the water line, but now there is some water damage to the floor in their premises that they need to address.
“As of today, Bath & Body Works still is closed to assess the damage to the floor and allow the sewer gas odor in the store to dissipate,” according to Anderson.
There also had been a musty smell reported inside the mall entrance near the former Garfield’s restaurant.
Anderson said the smell is likely due to the leaking roof that was discovered during the recent heavy rains. Ownership and property management are working on getting quotes to resolve this issue. It was brought to ownership’s attention just last week, she stated.
