Juvenile taken to the hospital with a suspected gunshot injury

Danville Police Officers responded to the OSF Sacred Heart Emergency Department on Saturday morning around 3 a.m. for a gunshot victim.
Officers arrived and learned the victim was a juvenile and was delivered to the hospital by the juvenile’s mother. The juvenile was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released the same day.
Further investigation led detectives to find cause to arrest the mother, 34-year-old Morgan Nelson of Danville, on charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Endangering the Life and Health of a Child.
The Department of Children’s Family Services assisted DPD with the incident to ensure the safety of the juvenile.

Two Subjects found with gunshot wounds
Danville Police Officers responded to the 1000 block of Moore Street on Saturday morning 9/14/24 at about midnight to find two gunshot victims laying in a yard. A 31-year-old male and a 28-year-old female both received injuries during a shooting incident in that area. Both subjects were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
The male has been released from the hospital and the female remains but is in stable condition. The Danville Police Department is requesting any information that can be provided to assist in this investigation. Little is known at this point and detectives are working to learn more.
