THE FOLLOWING IS A VERMILION COUNTY STATE’S ATTORNEY’S OFFICE RELEASE
On September 13, 2024, Terrence Potts (DOB 8/18/1975), formerly of Georgetown, Illinois, pleaded guilty to Delivery of Controlled Substance, a class 1 felony, and was sentenced by Judge Mark S. Goodwin to 7 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
During the plea hearing, the People presented evidence to the Court that on November 22, 2022, a special agent with the Vermilion County Metropolitan Enforcement Group executed a search warrant on a guest room at the Budget Motel in Georgetown, Illinois. The special agent found
Terrence Potts inside the room and located 15.4 grams of a substance that field tested positive for cocaine. Potts was interviewed by special agents and confirmed that the substance was crack cocaine. During the interview, Potts stated that he had been residing in the room at the Budget Motel for 2 years and admitted that he had been selling crack cocaine while residing there.
Testing completed by scientists at the Illinois State Police Forensic Science Laboratory confirmed the substance was positive for cocaine.
State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy announced the plea and sentence. She thanked the Vermilion County Metropolitan Enforcement Group for their diligence investigating drug trafficking in our communities.
