The Illinois Broadcasters Association has announced the finalists for this year’s Silver Dome Awards for Excellence in Broadcasting. Staff members from Central Illinois Multimedia Group radio stations in Danville received 11 total nominations in seven different award categories.
News Director Steve Brandy’s coverage of the Danville “Abortion Clinic Vote,” and his story on the “Danville Cannabis Dispensaries Argument” received nominations for Best Radio Hard News Feature.
Coverage of the “Local Political Screw-Up,” and of the WDAN “Sports Media Camp” received nominations for Best Light Feature.
Outside our news department, CIMG stations are finalists in the following categories …
Best Radio Humorous Commercial / Jocko’s “Scary Good Pizza”
Best Radio PSA / “United In Purpose,” a PSA for the United Way of the Danville Area.
In the category of Best Radio Series or Documentary, nominations were given to WDAN’s “Direct Line,” and for the “March Forth Moments.”
Neuhoff Media staff members also received nominations in individual categories:
Best Radio News Reporter: News Director Steve Brandy
Best Radio Personality: D102’s Tommy B for “Tommy B’s Big Show” with previous wins in 2019 & 2023, and to RJ Crace, who has won the Best Sportscaster Award in 2021 & 2022.
A nomination for a Silver Dome Award means the entry is among the top three in its category in Small Market Radio in Illinois.
The winners will be announced October 8th at the IBA’s Annual Meeting in Normal, IL.
