The 49th Vermilion River Fall Festival is taking place this weekend in Danville. Community Relations Administrator Rheanna Ollis says preparations for the event at Ellsworth Park have been underway for weeks.
In case you have never been there, Ollis describes it…
{AUDIO: “It is like a fair, but we’re vendor focused. So we have over a hundred vendors, over 13 food trucks, we have 5 bands throughout the weekend. So, honestly it’s just a good time to come down (and) shop a little bit to prepare for the upcoming season – and chill-out and listen to music while we still have good weather.”}
Ollis added there a wide range of items inside the huge tents…
{AUDIO: “Something I love about this festival is that we have a little bit of everything. So we have from your hand-made jewelry to light displays, to treats and homemade honey. So we have a little bit of everything. You definitely can’t come down and not get something. You’ll find something for sure.”}
Hours for the festival are 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday – September 20th and 21st – and from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday – September 22nd – which is Kids Day.
{Danville Public Works crews have spent weeks preparing the park for the event…including upgrades to the road and electrical hookups.}
Ollis noted there will be music throughout the event…
{AUDIO: “Friday and Saturday from 3:00 to 8:00 (p.m.) there will be music. In between that we’ll have a dee-jay playing music. And then on Sunday we have Thompson’s Tunes, who is a kid-friendly, interactive band. So that’s really fun for the kiddos.”}
{Keep Vermilion County Beautiful and the City of Danville will have a clean-up at the park starting at 9:00 a.m. Saturday.}
Ellsworth Park is located on Danville’s west side.
