THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE AREA COMMUNITY COLLEGE RELEASE
DANVILLE –Danville Area Community College Professor Wendy Brown invites the DACC community to a fun-filled day of family activities and science at the Mouth of Jordan Nature Reserve in Oakwood, IL, on Saturday, September 28, from 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Sponsored by the Land Conservation Foundation and DACC students, this event offers hands-on activities for kids, including creating nature sun prints, designing and building their own aquascopes, going on a treasure hunt, and crafting nature journals (while supplies last). It’s the perfect way to connect with nature and explore all the beauty the Mouth of Jordan has to offer.
This isn’t the first time Dr. Brown has hosted an activity at the Mouth of Jordan. Last year, DACC Biol 100 (Life Science) and Biol 105 (Environmental Biology) students, along with Dr. Brown and Professor Stephanie Loveless, participated in a Freshwater Mussel Survey at the reserve. Leading the survey were Fran Harty from the Land Conservation Foundation and Bob Szafoni from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
