THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE NOON ROTARY RELEASE
ABOVE: Layton and Rotary President Tonya Hill
Monday, September 30, 2024- Danville Noon Rotary welcomed eleven-year-old Layton Spalding, a six grader at Bismarck-Henning and founder of “Light the Way” which helps children cope with loss and brings awareness to childhood grief. At only four years old, Layton tragically lost her father to brain cancer. Now she provides baskets to hospitals for children in these situations. They are filled with the things that helped her cope and provided comfort during her own experience. Baskets are filled with games, stickers, stuffies and sparkles.
They also include a sun which represents better days ahead. Baskets are delivered upon request and Layton’s goal is to provide a basket to a child in every state. She has an Amazon wish list for those who wish to assist in providing supplies. On Monday, a $2,000 grant was awarded to Layton from Rotary. Layton presented Violet Kloth, who also tragically lost her father, with a basket of her own. Layton loves dance, pageants, arts and crafts and can light up the room with her smile. The Amazon wish list link to support Light the Way with Layton can be found at https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/RVDE34SFUECV?ref_=wl_share.
Danville Noon Rotary’s next meeting is Monday, October 21 at WorkSource Enterprises, 3713 N. Vermilion St Danville, IL. Guest speaker will be J.T. Barnhart, President OSF HealthCare.
Danville Noon Rotary would like to welcome everyone!
