Three months after the Quaker Oats plant in Danville closed, in which more than 500 employees lost their jobs, demolition of the 55-year-old factory has started. Not much can be seen from the road, but the demolition work can be heard in clanging equipment and falling materials. According to Logan Cronk with the city of Danville, ‘The timeline for the building to be on the ground is only a couple of weeks and (they) have been issued a demolition permit. They will be on the site removing debris for several months. They have not given any specifics as to why they chose to demolish the building.’
