THE FOLLOWING IS A VERMILION COUNTY STATE’S ATTORNEY’S OFFICE RELEASE
On October 4, 2024, Glen Mott (DOB 10/17/1984), formerly of Danville, Illinois, pleaded guilty to Aggravated Domestic Battery – Strangulation, a class 2 felony, for 5 years Illinois Department of Corrections, to be served at 85%, followed by 4 years mandatory supervised release. Mott also pleaded guilty to Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, a class 3 felony, for 5 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, to be followed by 6 months mandatory supervised release.
The sentences in this case are to run concurrently.
The People presented evidence to Judge Robert McIntire, that on June 18, 2024, Danville Police Department responded to a residence in Danville regarding a domestic battery. The victim reported to police that her boyfriend, Glen Mott, had grabbed her, slammed her to the floor and pointed a handgun at her face, threatening her, and subsequently choking her until she temporarily lost consciousness. A witness reported that the victim could be heard yelling for Mott to leave the residence, and the defendant could be heard threatening to kill the victim. The victim was able to run away from the residence to get help.
Danville Police officers searched the residence of Mott and the victim, and located a handgun that matched the description given by the victim. The handgun was loaded with a live round in the chamber and four rounds in the magazine.
State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy thanked the Danville Police Department for their prompt response to domestic violence cases. She added, “Felons who commit acts of domestic violence pose a significant threat to not only the victims and their families, but also to the community as a whole. My office is committed to supporting domestic violence victims in Vermilion County, together with our local agencies, to keep our community safe.”
