Rubber Ducky Readers: Join this fun Beanstack Challenge! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6.
Diversify Your Reading Challenge: In a reading rut? Expand your reading horizons by completing one or all of our challenges! Finish a challenge to earn a custom poster! This challenge is for teens and adults, ages 13 and up. August 1, 2024 – August 1, 2025
October 29: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week: Nailed it! Inspired by the Netflix TV series, tweens will be presented with a craft and supplies, but no instructions! 4:30 pm in the Rutan Room (Former Bookstore). Ages 8-12.
October 29: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under—Tuesdays at 10:00 am in the Rutan Room (Former Bookstore).
October 30: Rainbow Playgroup. Socialization, play, and STEAM activities for ages 1-5. Wednesdays 10 am- 11 am. 1st Floor Meeting Room.
October 30: Wordy Wednesdays. Puzzle lovers, mark your calendars! Every Wednesday, head on up to the 2nd-floor Reference Desk for a variety of word puzzles. Available anytime during our regular business hours.
October 31: Anything Tech for Teens. Introducing teens to some of the library’s cool technology, including 3D Printing, 3D Pens, Sphero Balls, Cricut, and a Flight Simulator. Thursdays at 4:00 pm in the Teen Zone.
November 1: Potterfest. First Fridays in Downtown Danville and Danville Public Library are teaming up to transform North Vermilion Street into Diagon Alley and North Street into Knockturn Alley yet again! This year’s theme is based on Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince!
Enjoy delicious, locally crafted, Butterbeer! Test your Harry Potter knowledge with Potter Trivia at Temple Plaza. Complete a scavenger hunt. Find a new wand and other Potter-themed items at the Vendor Hall in the Masonic Temple on North St. Watch your favorite movie scenes on the big screen at the Fischer Theatre, then see them acted out live at the Danville Public Library and other businesses along N Vermilion and North St! Potter fest 2024, 5-8 PM in Downtown Danville, IL.
November 2: Senior Social Hour. Seniors, join us on the first Saturday of every month, for a chance to have coffee and play games together. 9 am to 10 am in the 2nd Floor Conference Room.
November 2: Hear It, See It, Make It, Take It: Sensory Story Time. Sensory programs are designed for youth of various ability levels including differently-abled youth—Saturdays at 11 am in the Children’s Department.
Coloring Contest for all ages: Color a picture and win a prize. Return entries by the end of the month. Entries will be displayed in the Children’s Room. Winners will be notified. Adult Craft: Stop by the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor for an Inktober Kit take-and-make craft during October!
Candy Jar Guessing Game: From October 15th to October 31st the Reference desk will have a candy jar guessing game available. The patron who guesses the closest to the number of candies in the jar will win the candy for Halloween night!
Teen Craft: Stop by the Teen Zone during October to make your own buttons with the button maker! Teen Zone Hours: Monday-Thursday 3 pm to 7 pm and Saturday 11 am to 4:30 pm.
Weekly Crafts. Drop by for fun crafts in the children’s department. Available Monday through Thursday from 8 am-6:30 pm and Fri-Sat 8 am-4 pm. New craft each week! This week: Silly Monsters
