Professional hockey is back in Danville at the David S. Palmer Arena. The Dashers Hockey Club will begin their home portion of the Federal Prospects Hockey League season by hosting the Rock Lobsters from Athens, Georgia; this Friday night, October 25th. Coach A.J. Tesoriero played on Danville’s championship team back in 2016-2017. He says the team and players will be out and about in the community.
AUDIO: We’re trying to get the guys out into the schools; reading to the kids. When I was on the team we were always out helping the community; bagging groceries at the grocery store. We’re going to help with the church, and hand out the gifts at the church to the kids around Christmastime. So just getting all set up; and following through with it.
Action during Monday morning’s Dashers practice.
As far as which players to watch this season, Coach Tesoriero has a few suggestions.
AUDIO: Definitely Justin Brausen is a fan favorite. He’s been here; he’s about to score his 200th goal as a Dasher. So he got two over the weekend, putting him at 199. Our goalie, Parker Rutherford; definitely keep your eyes on him. He’s going to be playing hot for us. Then, we’ve got a couple rookies; Jacob Gagnon, number 2 on defense.
The Dashers Hockey Club opened their regular season this past weekend, where they dropped a pair of games in Watertown, New York.
AUDIO: We should’ve stolen one from them on Friday night; they underestimated us. The next game, they came a little bit more prepared; we ended up losing two games, unfortunately. But we’ve got a lot more practice to do, and we know what to work on now.
Watertown, for the record, is about two hours north of Syracuse. But the team’s back home, waiting for that 7:05 home opener on Friday night.
