The Illinois Department of Transportation will be hosting an open to the public, come and go when convenient for you meeting; Tuesday, October 22nd from 4 to 6 PM, in the Church of God at 535 South Bowman.
The topic will be proposed changes to Perrysville Road and Texas Avenue around I-74. Just northwest of the Bowman – Perrysville T -junction south of I-74 is the old Perrysville Road bridge across the interstate. IDOT is proposing to tear down the bridge, and not replace it. Perrysville Road would then end right at the bridge from both directions.
(1st Picture) Texas Avenue turnoff from Perrysville Road, where southbound traffic would head after bridge over I-74 is closed. (2nd Picture) Current Texas Avenue passage under Bowman Avenue, which would be upgraded to an intersection, currently planned to be a roundabout.
As an alternative, Texas Avenue; currently an underpass beneath Bowman, will be redone to form an intersection with Bowman, offering motorists coming southeast on Perrysville a new path to I-74, as well as back to Perrysville Road. Danville Assistant City Engineer Eric Childers gives us a preview of what kind of intersection IDOT has in mind.
AUDIO: They are going to bring Texas Avenue up to grade, to meet Bowman Avenue. And the latest plan is; they are planning to put a roundabout there at the Bowman-Texas Avenue intersection.
Childers says there will be a public informational meeting, with boards on easels explaining the project, and IDOT personnel to answer questions; during the 4 to 6 PM Tuesday, October 22nd session at the Church of God.
