Danville’s November First Fridays event has firmly become a major Harry Potter celebration. And this year, POTTERFEST falls on Friday, November 1st; meaning some people just might be sleeping in their favorite Halloween costumes the night before. Danville Community Relations Coordinator Kaleb Bryant and the Danville Public Library’s Brook Truscelli recently joined Tommy B on D102’s The Big Show.
As always, the library will be heavily involved in this Downtown Danville event. Only this time, they will be staging scenes from this year’s featured Potter movie, the Half-Blood Prince, both at the library at at various downtown business locations. As Truscelli explains, the library had become such a major part of POTTERFEST, that it was time to spread out a bit.
AUDIO: There will be scenes at the library, outside; but, we have taken a lot of the scenes that we normally do inside the library, and we have scattered them through downtown. So you’ll have a chance to see absolutely everything this event has to offer. You’re not going to miss anything.
For Kaleb Bryant, POTTERFEST has become so well known outside of Illinois that he sometimes has to tell people who contact the city that this is not Indiana, not Virginia, and not California. Welcome to Danville, ILLINOIS.
AUDIO: And that’s the big thing about Potterfest, too; and First Fridays as a whole, is just trying to get everyone involved. The amazing thing about Potterfest is that we have almost every downtown business involved in either the scavenger hunt, or with one of Brooke’s movie scenes. So everyone’s pretty much all hands on deck.
Just a couple things to keep in mind this year: the Harry Potter Trivia begins at Temple Plaza at 6 PM, the Harry Potter vendors will be at the Masonic Temple rather than the Joseph G. Cannon County Administration Building; and remember, you can pick up your maps for the Potter scavenger hunt just about everywhere you go.
POTTERFEST runs 5 to 8 PM on Friday evening downtown and at the library. To hear all of Tommy B’s interview with Kaleb and Brooke, please go to https://vermilioncountyfirst.com/big-show-bites-podcast/
