PSAs – Upcoming events at Danville Public Library – November 10 – November 16, 2024
Rubber Ducky Readers: Join this fun Beanstack Challenge! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6.
Diversify Your Reading Challenge: In a reading rut? Expand your reading horizons by completing one or all of our challenges! Finish a challenge to earn a custom poster! This challenge is for teens and adults, ages 13 and up. August 1, 2024 – August 1, 2025
November 11: Genealogy Workshop: Commemorate Veterans Day. Together we’ll learn about finding and commemorating your ancestor’s military service. 1-2:30 PM in the 2nd Floor Conference Room.
November 11: Teen Movie Mondays. Join us on the 2nd Monday of every month for a movie and popcorn in Teen Zone! Teens can suggest and vote on which movie we watch. 3 pm – 7 pm.
November 12: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week: Break a record. Choose a Guinness World Record and try to break it. 4:30 pm in the Rutan Room (Former Bookstore). Ages 8-12.
November 12: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under—Tuesdays at 10:00 am in the Rutan Room (Former Bookstore).
November 13: Rainbow Playgroup. Socialization, play, and STEAM activities for ages 1-5. Wednesdays 10 am- 11 am. 1st Floor Meeting Room.
November 13: Wordy Wednesdays. Puzzle lovers, mark your calendars! Every Wednesday, head on up to the 2nd-floor Reference Desk for a variety of word puzzles. Available anytime during our regular business hours.
November 13: Team STEAM. Join us for activities designed to help students foster creativity and boost critical thinking and problem-solving skills. 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
November 14: Tween 3D Pen Class. Get your tech on while you learn about 3D Pens. Use software to create your own 3D masterpiece! For ages 8-12. 4:30 p.m.
November 14: Anything Tech for Teens. Introducing teens to some of the library’s cool technology, including 3D Printing, 3D Pens, Sphero Balls, Cricut, and a Flight Simulator. Thursdays at 4:00 pm in the Teen Zone.
November 16: Hear It, See It, Make It, Take It: Sensory Story Time. Sensory programs are designed for youth of various ability levels including differently-abled youth—Saturdays at 11 am in the Children’s Department.
November 16: Goosebumps Parent/Child Book Club. Parents, share your Goosebumps nostalgia with your kids in our Parent-Child Book Club series! This month, we’re featuring Egg Monsters from Mars by R.L. Stine. We’ll have activities and games, and you’ll get a free copy of the book to take home. 1 pm in the 1st Floor Meeting Room
November 16: NaNoWriMo Writers’ Club. In celebration of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), please join us for Writers’ Club every Saturday in November. Meet in our Star Books Bookstore from 10:00 am to 11:00 am for coffee, chats, networking, and more. “Every November, writers around the world work to write 50,000 words of a novel in 30 days. Valuing enthusiasm, determination, and a deadline, NaNoWriMo is for anyone who has ever thought about writing a novel. Join us!” -NaNoWriMo.Org
