THE FOLLOWING IS A CITY OF DANVILLE RELEASE
The City of Danville is pleased to provide an important update on the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) Homeowner Assistance Fund Home Repair Program (HAFHR). This vital program is designed to assist homeowners who have experienced financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic since January 21, 2020. Eligible participants must have an income at or below 150% of the area median income.
Applications for the program were accepted from February 1 to February 15, 2024, and were entered into a randomized lottery system. We received an overwhelming response, with over 500 applications submitted. From these, 18 projects have been selected for funding. Currently, five projects have been completed, seven are underway, and six are in the preliminary phase.
Logan Cronk, Community Development Administrator, reports that these projects are nearing the maximum allocation of $60,000 each. They are being distributed across the city in accordance with State of Illinois regulations. The application developed by Administrator Cronk and his team has garnered recognition and is being used as a model for other communities, highlighting the quality, fairness, and meticulous attention to detail involved in the process.
The City of Danville has been invited to reapply for the IHDA HAFHR program, and preparations for this submission are currently underway. If awarded funding again, all applicants will retain their position in the randomized order. The City of Danville remains committed to supporting its residents through this program and will continue to keep the community informed about any future developments.
