The Danville City Council heard a presentation during their Tuesday evening (Nov 5th) meeting about the economic impact of Golden Nugget Casino in its first full year of operation in Danville.
Wilmorite Management’s Jim Wilmot and his presenting team cited July of 2023 through June of 2024 numbers, which included a total of over 382,200 visitors to the casino, 53% from out of state. There was also mention of their following of the Host Community Agreement they made with Danville; which has included $1 million contributions to the Boys and Girls Club, the Danville Riverfront Project, and Municipal Improvements.
Another thing Wilmot mentioned was that the local leadership at Danville’s Golden Nugget Casino is seeking more involvement on local boards.
AUDIO: We’ve been told that there’s a need for our senior leadership; our highly compensated team that we’re investing in, to invest in the community. Our director of HR just joined two boards, including Vermilion Advantage. And we want to set a precedent with our staff; that we are involved in the community, we are involved in local not-for-profits.
The presentation also mentioned that of the approximately 250 employees at the Golden Nugget Casino; half reside in the Danville area, and 80% within a 25 mile radius. Fifty-seven percent are female, 30 percent represent minorities, and 43% of leadership positions are held by females.
