Monday, November 4, 2024- Danville Noon Rotary welcomed Laura Floyd, CEO of the Danville Family YMCA. With 35 years working for the organization, she brings a mix of experience in fundraising, community collaboration and strategic planning. Originally from the YMCA in Cleveland, OH and later Hartford, CT, she talks about growing up with limited resources and how being part of the YMCA family changed her life. The YMCA is open to everyone and they raise funds to cover memberships, removing financial barriers.

Because the YMCA is not government funded, she stays busy with grant writing. Her goal is to secure funding to provide swim lessons for 100 local children. The core values of the YMCA are Respect, Responsibility, Caring and Honesty and she stresses the importance of being a positive role model. The YMCA serves 50-60 children after school who use the facility. While she is only 90 days into her new role here, Laura said that she already feels very much at home in Danville.
Rotary will not meet on November 11, Veterans Day. The next meeting will be Monday, November 18 with guest speaker Maestro Matthew Sheppard of the Danville Symphony Orchestra. Danville Noon Rotary would like to welcome everyone!
