PSAs – Upcoming events at Danville Public Library – November 17 – November 23, 2024
Rubber Ducky Readers: Join this fun Beanstack Challenge! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6.
Diversify Your Reading Challenge: In a reading rut? Expand your reading horizons by completing one or all of our challenges! Finish a challenge to earn a custom poster! This challenge is for teens and adults, ages 13 and up. August 1, 2024 – August 1, 2025
November 18: Children’s Wonder Garden Club. Gardening event for children and families. 4:30 PM in the Rutan Room. This program is made possible through a partnership with the University of Illinois Extension Office. This month, we will be learning about birds!
November 19: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week: BINGO! Come play Bingo and win prizes. 4:30 pm in the Rutan Room (Former Bookstore). Ages 8-12.
November 19: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under—Tuesdays at 10:00 am in the Rutan Room (Former Bookstore).
November 19: Vermilion County Master Gardeners. Join Vermilion County Master Gardeners for a seminar at Danville Public Library at 6 p.m. in the 1st Floor Meeting Room. Call 217-442-8615 for more information.
November 19: Monthly Teen Party: Come hang out for our teen monthly party! Have some snacks and play games! 4:00 pm in the Teen Zone.
November 20: Wordy Wednesdays. Puzzle lovers, mark your calendars! Every Wednesday, head on up to the 2nd-floor Reference Desk for a variety of word puzzles. Available anytime during our regular business hours.
November 21: Anything Tech for Teens. Introducing teens to some of the library’s cool technology, including 3D Printing, 3D Pens, Sphero Balls, Cricut, and a Flight Simulator. Thursdays at 4:00 pm in the Teen Zone.
November 21: Family Bilingual Storytime. Come join us for stories, songs, and rhymes in Spanish and English. 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM in the Children’s Department.
November 21: Family Reading Night. Join us for Family Reading Night! We will have unicorn stories, treats, and magic punch. 4:30 PM in the Rutan Room.
November 21: Teen Otaku Club. Join us every 3rd Thursday for Teen Otaku Club! The Teen Otaku Club will be reading a manga called Mashle volume 2 by Hajime Komoto. November 23: Hear It, See It, Make It, Take It: Sensory Story Time. Sensory programs are designed for youth of various ability levels including differently-abled youth—Saturdays at 11 am in the Children’s Department.
November 23: Local Author Visit. Join Dr. Shava Hampton-Campbell for a reading of her book Meet Jumping Jalani. Participants will also be able to color pictures from the book and enjoy a treat. Saturday, November 23 at 1:00 pm in the Rutan Room.
November 23: NaNoWriMo Writers’ Club. In celebration of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), please join us for Writers’ Club every Saturday in November. Meet in our Star Books Bookstore from 10:00 am to 11:00 am for coffee, chats, networking, and more.”Every November, writers around the world work to write 50,000 words of a novel in 30 days.
