There will be no need for a Danville City Council primary election next year. Bill Pickett has more…
The ten candidates who filed petitions to run prior to Monday’s deadline will all advance to the April 1st, 2025 General Consolidated Election.
Ward 7 Alderman Darren York’s decision not to seek re-election means there will be at least one new face on the city council next April. Two people have filed petitions seeking York’s seat – Doug Ahrens and Barry R. Johnson.
Ward 1 Alderman Robert Williams faces a challenge from Jaleel Jones. In Ward 2 Alderwoman Carolyn Wands is seeking re-election and nobody filed to run against her. Incumbent Ward 3 city council member Heidi Wilson faces a challenge from Thomas Hightower. Three other city council members are running unopposed. They are Tricia Teague in Ward 4, Michael Puhr in Ward 5, and James Poshard in Ward 6.
There were six other people who picked up petition packets at the Danville Board of Election Commission office indicating they might run, but none of them filed before Monday’s deadline.
