THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
On November 29, 2024 around 7:30 pm, the Danville Police Department (DPD) responded to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic crash in the 1500 block of N. Bowman Ave. Upon arrival, officers located 26-year-old Travis A. James (Danville) who had been struck by a vehicle and was unresponsive. The initial investigation suggests James was crossing the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle. James was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana where he was later pronounced deceased. The 34-year old female driver of the vehicle was also located on scene and was uninjured.
DPD contacted the Illinois State police (ISP) and requested they respond to the scene and conduct an accident reconstruction investigation. At this time, the investigation has been turned over to ISP and the Danville Police Department is awaiting the further release of information in relation to the ISP investigation. Once DPD receives the ISP investigation results, it will be forwarded to the public.
The investigation into this incident continues and no other information is being released at this time.
