Monday, December 2, 2024- Danville Noon Rotary held a ceremony at St. James United Methodist Church in Danville, Illinois for presentation of the 2024 Vocational Service Award. The 2024 winner is Illinois State Police Master Sergeant Jennifer Smit. The ceremony began with an introduction of guests and visiting Rotarians by Rotary President, Tonya Hill. Dr. Ronald Serfoss then recognized the past Vocational Service Award recipients who were in attendance. Tonya Hill introduced Master Sergeant Jennifer Smit as the 2024 Vocational Service Award winner.

After hearing remarks from Master Sergeant Smit, Tonya Hill also presented her with the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. A Proclamation from the Illinois House of Representatives was awarded by State Representative Brandun Schweizer as well as certificates of recognition from State Senator Paul Faraci and Mayor Rickey Williams Jr all of whom shared their remarks. “Master Sergeant Smit is a true testament to Rotary values in promoting integrity, advanced world understanding, good will and peace and is much deserving of this recognition,” stated Rotary President Tonya Hill.
