THE FOLLOWING IS A CRIS HEALTH AGING CENTER RELEASE
Champaign, Ill. – With the holidays underway, those interested in keeping donations local may want to consider CRIS Healthy Aging today, during this year’s Giving Tuesday recognition.
Held the Tuesday after Thanksgiving each year, Giving Tuesday started in 2012 and encourages people to do good in their communities. CRIS Healthy Aging, a local nonprofit organization part of the Carle Health system, supports community members 60 and older as well as those ages 18 to 59 living with a disability. They work to bring educational resources, warm meals, financial support and opportunities for connection, among other things. Anyone in Champaign and Vermilion counties can access CRIS services no matter what their level of need.
“CRIS Healthy Aging is here to support people in the community who are often forgotten,” Lisa Miller, executive director of CRIS Healthy Aging, said. “Giving Tuesday contributions help us help more aging adults and seniors live fuller, healthier lives.”
With locations at 4116 Fieldstone Road, in Champaign and 309 N. Franklin St., in Danville, CRIS Healthy Aging offers services that include tax preparation, grandparents raising grandchildren support, caregiver advice, classes in managing stress, and more.
Your gift this GivingTuesday could support:
$25 buys several meals for a hungry older adult.
$50 provides an active older adult with access to a Healthy Aging Class and materials.
$75 purchases a device to help an isolated older adult have face-to-face calls with family and friends.
$100 pays for a respite stay, so a caregiver can take a much needed break.
