THE FOLLOWING IS A VA ILLIANA HEALTH CARE RELEASE
DANVILLE, Ill. – VA Illiana will host events to help Veterans transition to two modern and secure sign-in options: Login.gov or ID.me accounts. Veterans will use these sign-in options to access VA.gov, VA mobile applications, and other VA online services.
“Setting up these accounts can be cumbersome for some Veterans as it requires a double authentication,” said Acting Executive Director Richard Griffith. “We want to support Veterans during this transition, but it is important to know that this transition is not unique to VA but a government-wide effort to streamline access to government services.”
VA Illiana will host events across Central Illinois to help Veterans create and verify their ID.me and Login.gov accounts. Veterans should bring their mobile devices, which they can use to access their personal email accounts, receive text messages, and take photos with the device’s camera, as well as valid identification. It is recommended to have additional identification documents such as a social security card, DD214, and the Veteran’s Health identification card if you have recently moved or have had your phone number changed. All events are from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Event schedule:
December 7 – Bob Michel VA Clinic (Peoria)
December 14 – Bloomington VA Clinic
December 21 – Decatur VA Clinic
December 28 – Springfield VA Clinic
After January 31, 2025, Veterans won’t be able to sign in to VA websites and apps with a MyHealtheVet user ID and password. Veterans who choose not to transition will still be able to access their data by phone or in person at the VA health care system of their choice. Instructions for creating an ID.me or Login.gov account are also available online.
