It’s two down and four more to go for a wonderful holiday time tradition for the Danville Police Benevolent Protective Association. They annually provide holiday senior citizen meals to a variety of area locations. This year’s plan began with stops last Wednesday, December 4th, at Bowman Estates and Villas of Hollybrook. On Tuesday, December 10th, there will be lunchtime stops at CRIS Senior Services Center and Immanuel Senior Living.
Detective Tyler Starkey is leading the effort this year. He says this tradition goes back a long way. And it’s been able to keep going of late thanks to the efforts of Applewood Foods Catering.
AUDIO: Officers have been doing this ever since I can remember. Deputy Chief McCord said he remembers it from 25 years ago, and so on. So, it’s been a pretty long tradition that the Danville Police Department has been doing. For the last couple years, we’ve had Applewood Catering, based out of Covington. Sara runs it, and she’s been grateful; just cooks an amazing meal for the residents, and we love working with her.
The final two meal stops for the Danville Police Benevolent Protective Association this season will be this Thursday, December 12; at Vermilion House and Deer Creek Manor.
