Description of Structure/Property: 2-story, brick home
Description of Incident:
On Sunday, December 22, 2024, Danville Firefighters arrived at 1309 N Vermilion to find fire coming from 2 windows on the second floor. Fire crews made a transition attack to extinguish the flames. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the room of origin. There was smoke and water damage throughout the house. The occupants were outside when firefighters arrived. 2 adults, 4 children and 2 dogs were displaced by the fire. The American Red Cross and First Baptist Church assisted the family.
Ameren assisted firefighters by disconnecting the power and gas to the residence.
Firefighters remained on scene until 9:15 PM.
Fire Cause: The Danville Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire. The cause of the fire remains undetermined.
No injuries were reported.
Smoke Alarm Status: Smoke Detector(s): Present but had not alerted the occupants.
Estimated Dollar Loss: $40,000.00
