Additionally, a narrow band of accumulating flat ice of at least one tenth of an of an inch is possible (greater than 40% chance). Blustery north winds will occasionally gust between 20-30 mph, potentially leading to blowing and drifting snow across East-West highways, as well as sporadic power outages.
* WHERE…Heavy snow across portions of central, east central, southeast, and west central Illinois. Ice accumulations confined to areas along and south of Interstate 70.
* WHEN…From late Saturday night through Monday morning.
* IMPACTS…Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning commute.
