Illinois State Police are continuing an investigation into a shooting that occurred in Edgar County. The Edgar County Sheriff’s Department says deputies were dispatched to 23499 East 1575th Road for a trespassing complaint on Friday morning. Upon arrival, deputies were met by a male who was in possession of a rifle.
In a news release the Edgar County Sheriff’s Office said an armed confrontation occurred between the subject and deputies. A deputy discharged their firearm, ultimately striking the subject. There were no deputies hurt during the confrontation.
Lifesaving measures were given to the man and he was transported to Carle Hospital in Urbana via a helicopter. At last report the man was still undergoing treatment. His name and other details were not immediately released.
Illinois State Police are handling the investigation at the request of the Edgar County Sheriff’s Department.
