Diversify Your Reading Challenge: In a reading rut? Expand your reading horizons by completing one or all of our challenges! Finish a challenge to earn a custom poster! This challenge is for teens and adults, ages 13 and up. August 1, 2024 – August 1, 2025
Rubber Ducky Readers: Join this fun Beanstack Challenge! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6.
Winter Reading Program: Squishing Through the Snow: Join us for our Squishing Through the Snow Winter Reading Program, running from January 6th to February 17th, 2025! Kids, Tweens, Teens, and Adults can register starting December 30th and earn fun prizes by logging their reading days on the Beanstack app.
January 20: Children’s Wonder Garden Club. Gardening event for children and families. 4:30 PM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room. This program is made possible through a partnership with the University of Illinois Extension Office. This month, we will be learning about the seasons!
January 21: Monthly Teen Party: Come hang out for our teen monthly party! Have some snacks and play games! 4:00 pm in the Teen Zone.
January 21: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week: BINGO! Come play Bingo and win prizes. 4:30 pm in the Program Room (Former Bookstore). Ages 8-12.
January 21: Vermilion County Master Gardeners. Join Vermilion County Master Gardeners for a seminar at Danville Public Library at 6 p.m. in the 1st Floor Meeting Room. Call 217-442-8615 for more information.
January 21: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under. Tuesdays at 10:00 am in the Program Room (Former Bookstore).
January 22: Rainbow Playgroup. Socialization, play and STEAM activities for toddlers. 10 AM- 11 AM. Howard Rutan Meeting Room
January 22: Teen Writing Club. Join us every Wednesday for Teen Writing Club! Journals and pens will be provided for our teen writers, along with writing prompts. 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm in the YA area.
January 22: Wordy Wednesdays. Puzzle lovers, mark your calendars! Every Wednesday, head on up to the 2nd floor Reference Desk for a variety of word puzzles. Available anytime during our regular business hours.
January 23: Anything Tech for Teens. Introducing teens to some of the library’s cool technology, including 3D Printing, 3D Pens, Sphero Balls, Cricut, and a Flight Simulator. Thursdays at 3:00 pm in the Teen Zone.
January 23: Crafty Thursday. Stop by the Teen Zone for candle making! Thursday from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm in the Teen Zone.
January 25: Sensory and Bilingual Story Adventures. A unique programming experience combining bilingual storytelling with sensory-friendly activities, designed to engage children of all abilities. This inclusive program creates a welcoming space where stories come to life through interactive elements, fostering language development and sensory exploration in a fun and supportive environment. Saturdays at 11 a.m. in the Children’s Department.
January 25: Pop Culture Trivia. It’s TIMEY-WIMEY to EXTERMINATE your opponents with your vast knowledge of a certain DOCTOR…2:00-3:30pm in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room. For All Ages.
Adult Craft: Stop by the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor for a Diamond Art take-and-make craft! While supplies last.
Coloring Contest for all ages: Color a picture and win a prize. Return entries by the end of the month. Entries will be displayed in the Children’s Room. Winners will be notified. Weekly Crafts. Drop by for fun crafts in the children’s department. Available Monday through Thursday from 8 am-6:30 pm and Fri-Sat 8 am-4 pm. New craft each week! This week: Winter Mittens
