Funeral services have been set for a man who served decades as the Vermilion County Circuit Clerk. Gerald R. Block was first elected to the office in 1964. He retired in 1992.
Block was highly respected by employees who worked in his office. One of them, Melissa Quick, is the current Circuit Clerk. “Jerry spent his lifetime serving the constituents of Vermilion County,” said Quick. “I wouldn’t be where I am today without his unwavering support, wisdom, and belief in me,” added Quick. “He was more than a mentor – he was a true friend and an extraordinary person who inspired and empowered everyone around him. His legacy will always live on in the lives he touched.”
Others have been praising Block for his service on social media.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center at 3940 North Vermilion Street in Danville, Illinois. Visitation is from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 15th.
