THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
On Friday 1/17/2025 around 9:00 p.m., members of the Danville Police Department Community Housing Unit and Problem Oriented Policing Unit stopped a vehicle at Harmon and Townsend Streets in Danville because of an expired registration plate.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 21-year-old Anthony T. Gouard of Danville. When the vehicle stopped Gouard exited and walked away refusing to stop for officers when told to do so. Gouard was eventually taken into custody. During the search of Gouard, officers found an illegal firearm.
Gouard was arrested and transported to the Vermilion County Public Safety Building where he was booked on Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon.
The Danville Police Department reminds the public that all subjects who are arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
