There will be three opportunities this coming Monday and Tuesday (Jan 27th & 28th) for families to pre-apply for the Housing Choice Voucher Waitlist, also known as Section 8, with the Vermilion Housing Authority.
The scheduled Monday the 27th opportunity, at the Vermilion County Health Department at 200 College Street in Danville, will present some additional chances for families to improve their wellness situations. Stops are scheduled during the pre-application 11 AM to 7 PM period by the Carle Mobile Market and the OSF Care-A-Van. The Carle Mobile Market sells produce and other food items for purchase, while the OSF Care-A-Van offers physicals and other health initiatives. The Health Department will also have information available on WIC, that’s Women Infants and Children, immunizations and other programs that can help families.
As Brittany Savalick from the Vermilion Housing Authority points out, the pre-applications for the Housing Choice Voucher program are simply the first step for families, in finding out if they are eligible for the program.

If you cannot make it to the Vermilion County Health Department Monday to turn in a pre-application for the housing program, there are two places you can go on Tuesday the 28th. One is the Hoopeston Multi Agency Service Center, 206 South 1st Avenue in Hoopeston, from 11 AM to 3 PM. The second place Tuesday is the Vermilion Housing Authority Richie Manor Office, 11 AM to 3 PM, 205 East West Street in Georgetown.
