Diversify Your Reading Challenge: In a reading rut? Expand your reading horizons by completing one or all of our challenges! Finish a challenge to earn a custom poster! This challenge is for teens and adults, ages 13 and up. August 1, 2024 – August 1, 2025
Rubber Ducky Readers: Join this fun Beanstack Challenge! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6.
Winter Reading Program: Squishing Through the Snow: Join us for our Squishing Through the Snow Winter Reading Program, running from January 6th to February 17th, 2025! Kids, Tweens, Teens, and Adults can register starting December 30th and earn fun prizes by logging their reading days on the Beanstack app.
February 3: On Writing: Live Podcast with Rob Witzel. Join us as local author and podcast host Rob Witzel records live interviews for his podcast, On Writing. He’ll be chatting with sibling duos Jamie McDaniels & Chip Mattis, and Beth Walder & Katie Weston. Enjoy the live recording and exciting giveaways! 5:00-6:30pm in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
February 4: Teen Book Club. Come discuss your favorite books from a different genre each month! At our February meeting, we will be discussing Horror books! 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm in the Teen Zone. Ages 13-19.
February 4: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week: 3D Pens. Get your tech on while you learn about 3D Pens. Use software to create your own 3D masterpiece! 4:30 pm in the Program Room (Former Bookstore). Ages 8-12.
February 4: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under. Tuesdays at 10:00 am in the Program Room (Former Bookstore).
February 5: Rainbow Playgroup. Socialization, play and STEAM activities for toddlers. 10 AM- 11 AM. Program Room.
February 5: Teen Writing Club. Join us every Wednesday for Teen Writing Club! Journals and pens will be provided for our teen writers, along with writing prompts. 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm in the YA area.
February 5: Wordy Wednesdays. Puzzle lovers, mark your calendars! Every Wednesday, head on up to the 2nd floor Reference Desk for a variety of word puzzles. Available anytime during our regular business hours.
February 6: Anything Tech for Teens. Introducing teens to some of the library’s cool technology, including 3D Printing, 3D Pens, Sphero Balls, Cricut, and a Flight Simulator. Thursdays at 3:00 pm in the Teen Zone.
February 6: Crafty Thursday. Stop by the Teen Zone for Blank Squishy Toy Painting! Thursday from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm in the Teen Zone.
February 6: Pop Culture Trivia. Are you a fan of the Once Upon a Time TV series? Test your knowledge at our Pop Culture Trivia Night! Compete for exciting prizes and enjoy bonus photo opportunities with cosplayers dressed as your favorite characters from the show. It’s a night of fun, fantasy, and friendly competition you won’t want to miss! 5:00-6:30pm in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
February 8: An Evening in Madison County. Visit Madison County this Valentine’s season…Join us at 6:00 pm for a cocktail hour featuring hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and music by Bee Ziegler! Sit in on the book discussion, admire local photography, and enter to win a book bouquet. A showing of the film will begin at 7:30 pm in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room. Intended for Adults
February 8: Filmmaking 101 with Demetrius Witherspoon. Join award-winning writer, director, and author Demetrius Witherspoon, owner of DV Entertainment Pictures, as he presents a hands-on class for aspiring filmmakers aged 13 and up. Whether aspiring to direct, write, or edit, attendees will gain essential techniques to craft compelling films without a big budget. 12:30-1:30 PM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
February 8: Sensory and Bilingual Story Adventures. A unique programming experience combining bilingual storytelling with sensory-friendly activities, designed to engage children of all abilities. This inclusive program creates a welcoming space where stories come to life through interactive elements, fostering language development and sensory exploration in a fun and supportive environment. Saturdays at 11 a.m. in the Children’s Department.
Adult Craft: Stop by the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor for a Macrame Heart take-and-make craft! While supplies last.
Coloring Contest for all ages: Color a picture and win a prize. Return entries by the end of the month. Entries will be displayed in the Children’s Room. Winners will be notified.
