The Danville Police Department recently recognized two of its top performers for the year 2024. Each year DPD awards the Police Officer of The Year and also The “Top Gun” award.
The Police Officer of the Year award was presented by Chief Yates to a member nominated by their peers who consistently demonstrates outstanding performance and professional achievement by conducting proactive community policing.
The 2024 recipient of Police Officer of the Year is Officer Scott Crawley. Officer Crawley is a 16-year veteran of the Danville Police Department, an Emergency Response Unit Member, and a Field Training Officer.
Officer Crawley exhibits the vision and values of the Danville Police Department Mission Statement. Officer Crawley’s performance stood out beyond the median of standards and showed exemplary character both on and off duty. Officer Crawley receives consistent positive praise from his coworkers and supervisors and is an example of an officer who holds high standards of professional law enforcement.
The “Top Gun” award was presented by Chief Yates to the highest combined score for firearm qualifications for the year.
The 2024 recipient of the Danville Police Department’s “Top Gun” award is Detective Jon Stonewall. Detective Stonewall is a 16-year veteran of the Danville Police Department and also a member of the Emergency Response Unit.
Detective Stonewall held the highest combined score of the department’s annual firearm qualification for the year 2024 with his duty weapon. Detective Stonewall was able to hold off the entire department by demonstrating his ability to perform at a high level with his firearm and display excellent skills on the firing range.
