THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
On Friday afternoon, around 3:00 p.m., Danville Police Officers responded to the report of an armed subject at a residence in the 1500 block of N. Walnut Street.
Officers arrived and spoke with witnesses of the incident who reported seeing a subject with a firearm. Further investigation and assistance from the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office provided a search warrant for a residence.
During a search of the residence, officers located an illegal firearm and arrested 41-year-old Jerrod Dyson of Danville. Officers discovered Dyson was a convicted felon and, at the time of the incident, was serving a period of Mandatory Supervised Release in the State of Illinois.
Dyson was arrested, transported to the Public Safety Building, and booked on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Obstructing/Resisting a Peace Officer.
The Danville Police Department reminds the public that all subjects arrested are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
