The Danville Fire Department will be hosting firefighters from area departments around the Illiana area Wednesday (Jan 29th) evening; for a program at the Downtown Danville Fischer Theatre called “Firefighters at the Fischer.” Danville Fire Chief Aaron Marcott says they’ve been thinking about doing something like this
Audio PlayerAUDIO: This is our first time. We’re very thankful for the Fischer for allowing us to try this. We hope to maybe have more in the future. This is a very good speaker that we heard in a conference last summer.

Chief Marcott says bringing Houston Fire Chief Clyde Gordon III and his “Warriors, Wisdom, and Wheelbarrows” program to the area is simply part of a desire to educate and inform other firefighters.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: He’s worked at one of the busiest houses in the Houston area. So he’s experienced everything from firefighter suicide to loss of a firefighter under his control and command. So, he has a very good message about that and how they handled it, and we wanted it to be heard here.
Chief Marcott also says, part of Chief Gordon’s message will be about making proper decisions.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: One of his emphasis is always being ready; ways you can get faster at your job so we can make those rescues and do those things. He has wide experience in that realm.
Fischer Theatre doors will open at 6 PM, then the program will go around 7 to 9. Area firefighters can register to attend this free event by going to the Danville Fire Department Facebook event page.
