THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
On Thursday, 1/30/2025, at about 7:30 p.m., officers of the Danville Police Department Problem Oriented Policing Unit and Community Housing Unit stopped a vehicle in the 1900 block of E. Fairchild Street because the vehicle registration had been expired for over 4 months.
Officers further investigated the stop because of the presence of illegal drugs in plain view. During the investigation, a stolen, loaded firearm was located. 21-year-old Martez M. Johnson of Danville was identified and arrested for possession of the firearm.
Johnson was transported to the Public Safety Building, where he was booked on charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.
The Danville Police Department reminds the public that an arrest is a mere accusation and all subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
