Numerous team members from the Seven Point of Illinois cannabis dispensary and vinyl records store, on the west side of Lynch Road in Danville, plan to speak before the Danville Planning and Zoning Commission on Thursday, February 6th. They desire approval of a consumption lounge, where anyone 21 and older, who had purchased cannabis products at Seven Point, would be able to use them while on Seven Point property. General Manager Kendra Mowrey says the initial goal is certainly to compete more with the nearby, outside of Danville, Parkway Dispensary; who already has a consumption lounge.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: I think it’ll bring a lot business to Danville that is being brought to Tilton at the moment. It’s a nice safe space for people to come and consume.
Seven Point offers vinyl records (1st picture, bottom of display) of numerous musical genres, along with turntables and speakers.
But Seven Point CEO Brad Zerman points out that getting the consumption lounge approved is only the beginning when it comes to their plans for working with and benefitting Danville. For one thing, they plan to host food trucks on site. And sure, those of age who desire and had purchased Seven Point products could eat their food in the consumption lounge. But also, nearby workers, hotel tenants, and whole families could come by for breakfast, lunch, or dinner to go. And Zerman says, the dispensary would work with the food trucks, to bring more sales tax revenue into Danville.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: We can promote the food through the dispensary. We have an average of 265 people coming through a day, with close to 400 on Saturdays. We could tie in the food by, “Oh, spend X amount; and get a sandwich for free.”
On top of that, the vinyl records part of Seven Point is about to expand. They sell turntables, hope to sell records to those under 21 by allowing them to purchase at the food trucks; and soon, loads of new records are coming, creating a big sale.

AUDIO: Watch our social media. Because we’re waiting for the new 100-150 records to come in, and then that many records are going to go on sale at half off. We just got a new Facebook page; so now we have “Solely Vinyl Seven Point,” so check that out.
Zerman says Seven Point is working hard with the city to try and bring a legal place, to use legal cannabis products, legally to the city. Zerman says that among those they’ve been communicating with is Police Chief Christopher Yates.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: We met with Chief Yates here on site, who gave us numerous pieces of advice, that he would recommend if this got approved. And, we’ve put together a whole security package, based on our meeting with him; and we agreed with everything he said. We have cannabis here. People are buying it; people are smoking it. Giving them a place to smoke is just the same as going to a bar and having a drink. It’s the same thing.
There are also plans for creating a foundation for music lessons for kids, and offering internships for everything from the dispensary to the food trucks. Seven Point is on the agenda for the 5:15 PM Thursday, February 6th Danville Planning and Zoning Commission meeting; in the City Council chambers.
