THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
On Monday evening, 2/10/25 at about 4:45 p.m., a Danville Police Officer stopped a vehicle in the area of E. Williams and N. Collett Streets. The officer witnessed a registration violation and pulled the car over to investigate.
During the encounter officers noticed open alcohol inside the vehicle which led to further investigation. A passenger in the car was identified as 25-year-old Elijah T. Staple of Danville. Officers learned that Staple had two firearms on him. Staple did not possess a Concealed Carry license in the State of Illinois.
Elijah Staple was arrested and transported to the Public Safety Building where he was booked on charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
The Danville Police Department reminds the public that an arrest is merely an accusation and all subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
