We want to encourage locals to come together and provide the much-needed support in our community. Vermilion County WIC is conducting a needs assessment and has gathered important feedback from 125 participants. Of the people surveyed:
• 66.4% stated that they would like to see a diaper bank created within the community
• 57.9% of the respondents who frequent diaper banks stated they have at least some issues receiving diapers from local resources
• 36% of respondents experience financial difficulties affording diapers at least monthly
• 62.8% of respondents experience financial difficulties affording wipes at least monthly
WIC provides free healthy foods, breastfeeding support, nutrition education, and referrals to other services, expanding your family’s options (USDA, 2025). However, WIC does not offer diapers or baby wipes. Vermilion County Health Department is going out of its way to help bridge the gap between current resources and the community’s needs.
