Description of Structure/Property: 2-Story, Wood Framed Home (In Normal Use)

Description of Incident:
The Danville Fire Department was called to the 800 Blk of John Street at 11:59 AM on Friday, February 21, 2025. Upon arrival firefighters reported seeing heavy fire coming from the structure. Initial dispatch indicated up to three people may have been in the home at the time of the fire, a search of the home determined no one was in the residence at the time of the fire. The advanced fire worked its way into the attic space of the structure. Firefighters spent several hours on the scene extinguishing the fire.
Due to the cold temperatures a warming bus was provided by the Danville Mass Transit Department and members of the Danville Public Works assisted in laying down salt on the frozen roadway.
Ameren and Aqua Illinois were also called to the scene to secure utilities to the home.
The cause of the fire is undetermined. An investigation is ongoing.
