THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY RELEASE
Danville, IL – The Danville Public Library is thrilled to announce the celebration of the 30th anniversary of its current building at 319 N. Vermilion, which opened its doors in 1995. To commemorate this milestone, the library is hosting a series of exciting book and movie events themed around the year 1995.
The celebration kicked off with “An Evening in Madison County,” an event centered around the beloved book and movie “Bridges of Madison County.” Attendees enjoyed live music by Bee Zigler, a photo gallery featuring works by local photographers, Italian-inspired hors d’oeuvres, and a cash bar. The evening also included a book discussion followed by a showing of the movie. The event was on Saturday, February 8 at 6:00 p.m.

The library is collecting prom dresses for its upcoming “Clueless and Cocktails” event happening Saturday, March 22. This event celebrates the spirit of giving and fashion, key components of the 1995 movie “Clueless.” Local prom-goers will have the opportunity to pick out dresses, suits, and accessories for free while enjoying mocktails. The evening portion of the event will feature a discussion of the book “Emma,” which inspired “Clueless,” an optional craft to make you feel like a total Betty, and a “Clueless” movie showing complete with themed cocktails (for those over 21) and treats.
The library has many more exciting events planned for the 1995-themed celebration and will announce additional details in the coming months.
