THE FOLLOWING RELEASE IS FROM CONGRESSWOMAN MARY MILLER’S OFFICE
Rep. Mary Miller (IL-15) and Rep. Darin LaHood (IL-16) today announced the application process for the search and consideration of a new United States Attorney for the Central District of Illinois. LaHood’s 16th Congressional District and Miller’s 15th Congressional District encompass the 46-county jurisdiction of the Central District, including branches of Springfield, Peoria, Moline, and Urbana.
The Central District of Illinois has a robust legacy of prosecuting corruption, protecting national security, prosecuting fraud, and working to protect all citizens in central Illinois. The current position of US Attorney for the Central District is being served by an Acting U.S. Attorney after the recent retirement of U.S. Attorney Gregory Harris.
The importance of selecting a strong US Attorney who will enforce our immigration laws, fight to stop rampant and rising criminal activity in central Illinois, support our brave men and women in law enforcement, and prevent public corruption is now more important than ever. Ensuring the policies and priorities of the Trump Administration will be implemented across the Central District must be a priority for the new US Attorney.
While numerous applications have already been received, any interested and qualified applicants may continue to send resumes and other supporting materials, including cover letters expressing interest in the position, relevant case materials, and other background to centralillinoissubmissions@mail.house.gov. The interview process will then be conducted by Rep. Miller and Rep. LaHood, with recommendations shared with the White House for their ongoing review and selection process. Once President Trump appoints a nominee, the nominee will then be reviewed by the U.S. Senate for confirmation.
