Diversify Your Reading Challenge: In a reading rut? Expand your reading horizons by completing one or all of our challenges! Finish a challenge to earn a custom poster! This challenge is for teens and adults, ages 13 and up. August 1, 2024 – August 1, 2025
Oscar Buzz Reading Challenge: Join our Beanstack Challenge featuring nine books whose film adaptations are nominated for Oscars! Intended for Adults (19+).

Rubber Ducky Readers: Join this fun Beanstack Challenge! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6.
March 10: Genealogy Workshop – Starting Your Family Tree: This is a class for people just starting to do their family history research for genealogy. Get guidance and instructions on how to use our resources to help you on your journey. 1:00-2:30 PM in the 2nd Floor Conference Room.
March 11: Teen Otaku Club. Join us every 2nd Tuesday for Teen Otaku Club! Come to Teen Zone and share your love of anime and manga! Each month, teens will vote on which anime to watch and discuss. 4:30PM-5:30PM in the Teen Zone. Ages 13-19.
March 11: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week: Break a record. Choose a Guinness World Record and try to break it. 4:30 pm in the Program Room. Ages 8-12
March 11: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under—Tuesdays at 10:00 am in the Program Room.
March 12: Rainbow Playgroup. Socialization, play and STEAM activities for toddlers. 10 AM- 11 AM. Program Room.
March 12: Teen Writing Club. Join us every Wednesday for Teen Writing Club! Journals and pens will be provided for our teen writers, along with writing prompts. 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm in the YA Area. Ages 13-19
March 12: Wordy Wednesdays. Puzzle lovers, mark your calendars! Every Wednesday, head on up to the 2nd floor Reference Desk for a variety of word puzzles. Available anytime during our regular business hours.
March 13: Anything Tech for Teens. Introducing teens to some of the library’s cool technology, including 3D Printing, 3D Pens, Sphero Balls, Cricut, and a Flight Simulator. Thursdays at 3:00 pm in the Teen Zone. Ages 13-19
March 13: Crafty Thursday. Stop by the Teen Zone for a craft each Thursday. This week: St. Patrick’s Day Sewing Craft! 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm in the Teen Zone. Ages 13-19
March 13: Snack & Chat. Join us for an hour of conversations and confections*! This month, we are diving into the thrilling worlds of James Patterson. Whether you’re a long-time fan or new to his work, come share your favorite books and characters, and discover new ones! *while supplies last. 5:00-6:00pm in the 2nd Floor Conference Room.
March 15: Goosebumps Parent/Child Book Club. Parents, share your Goosebumps nostalgia with your kids in our Parent-Child Book Club series! This month, we’re featuring Slappy Birthday to You by R.L. Stine. We’ll have activities and you will get to make and enjoy a yummy book-related snack. Each child will get a free copy of the book to take home. 1:00 pm in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
March 15: Sensory and Bilingual Story Adventures. A unique programming experience combining bilingual storytelling with sensory-friendly activities, designed to engage children of all abilities. This inclusive program creates a welcoming space where stories come to life through interactive elements, fostering language development and sensory exploration in a fun and supportive environment. Saturdays at 11 a.m. in the Children’s Department.
Adult Craft: Stop by the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor for Flower Crown take-and-make crafts! While supplies last.
Coloring Contest for all ages: Color a picture and win a prize. Return entries by the end of the month. Entries will be displayed in the Children’s Room. Winners will be notified. Prom Collection Drive. We’re excited to announce our Prom Collection Drive! Donate menswear, dresses, shoes, purses, and jewelry now through Friday, March 21st to help make prom dreams come true for students. And save the date for our Free Prom Shopping Event on Saturday, March 22nd, where all donated items will be available free-of-charge for students. Watch for more information!

Tree Giveaway through Neighborhood Forest: The Danville Public Library is partnering with a not for profit organization called, Neighborhood Forest, to give away a free tree to every child who registers. Trees are native to our local area and can picked up from the Danville Public Library at a later date.
