With the fence from Homrich well in place around Bresee Tower and the Vermilion County Courthouse Annex Building; the tear down of both buildings by the Carleton, Michigan company are getting ever so closer. As Mayor Rickey William, Jr explains, the very first thing Homrich got to work on was asbestos removal from the Courthouse Annex. In fact, the mayor says Homrich ended up taking a one-step-at-a-time approach.

AUDIO: I thought that they were going to do all the asbestos abatement from the Annex and the Bresee at the same time; they’re not. They’re abating the asbestos in the Annex, then they’re demolishing the Annex. Then they’re doing the asbestos abatement in Bresee; then they’re demolishing Bresee. So I really believe that before Easter you’ll see the Courthouse Annex coming down.
An intergovernmental agreement has the city paying for the Bresee Tower tear down, and the county paying for the Courthouse Annex tear down.
