Oscar Buzz Reading Challenge: Join our Beanstack Challenge featuring nine books whose film adaptations are nominated for Oscars! Intended for Adults (19+).

Rubber Ducky Readers: Join this fun Beanstack Challenge! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6.
March 17: Children’s Wonder Garden Club. Gardening event for children and families. This program is made possible through a partnership with the University of Illinois Extension Office. This month, we will be learning about Seeds! 4:30 PM in the Program Room.
March 18: Monthly Teen Party: Come hang out for our teen monthly party! Have some snacks and play games! 4:00 pm in the Teen Zone.
March 18: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week: BINGO! Come play Bingo and win prizes. 4:30 pm in the Program Room. Ages 8-12.
March 18: Vermilion County Master Gardeners. Join Vermilion County Master Gardeners for a seminar at Danville Public Library at 6 p.m. in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room. Call 217-442-8615 for more information.
March 18: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under—Tuesdays at 10:00 am in the Program Room.
March 19: Little Women Book Club. With special guests from the DACC Jaguar Players, join the iconic characters from Little Women as they lead a lively book discussion of Louisa May Alcott’s beloved novel. Whether you’re a longtime fan or discovering the story for the first time, this event promises engaging conversation and a unique literary experience. Come share your thoughts and enjoy a night with the March sisters! 5:00-6:30pm in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
March 19: Rainbow Playgroup. Socialization, play and STEAM activities for toddlers. 10:00 – 11:00 AM in the Program Room.
March 19: Teen Writing Club. Join us every Wednesday for Teen Writing Club! Journals and pens will be provided for our teen writers, along with writing prompts. 3:30 – 4:30 PM in the YA area.
March 19: Wordy Wednesdays. Puzzle lovers, mark your calendars! Every Wednesday, head on up to the 2nd floor Reference Desk for a variety of word puzzles. Available anytime during our regular business hours.
March 20: Anything Tech for Teens. Introducing teens to some of the library’s cool technology, including 3D Printing, 3D Pens, Sphero Balls, Cricut, and a Flight Simulator. Thursdays at 3:00 PM in the Teen Zone.
March 20: Little Women Story Hour. Join the DACC Jaguar Players as the beloved characters from Little Women come to life! Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy will enchant children with tales of adventure, kindness, and family. Perfect for young readers and fans the Louisa May Alcott’s classic, don’t miss this unique opportunity to meet the March sisters and enjoy a cozy story time session! 1:00 – 2:00 PM in the Program Room.
March 22: Art Workshop with Katie Weston. Join us for an exciting art workshop led by local artist Katie Weston. Paint with fun and confidence as you learn new techniques and unleash your creativity. March 22. Clueless and Cocktails. We’re rollin’ back in time to 1995 for an evening! Enjoy live ’90s music by Bee Ziegler, a cash bar, delicious hors d’oeuvres, and make yourself look like a total Betty at our fun hat-making station inspired by Dionne! We’ll also have a Jane Austen’s Emma book discussion, because, like, reading is totally important, and As If we wouldn’t show the movie, too! Don’t be totally buggin’ and come on out, hopefully not sporadically! 6:00 PM at Danville Public Library.
March 22: FREE Student Prom Shopping Day. Hey Students! Get ready for the prom of your dreams without breaking the bank! Free Menswear, Dresses, Shoes, Purses, Jewelry, and more – all generously donated by our amazing community. But that’s not all! Register on the day for a chance to win Prom Prizes, featuring free and discounted prom services courtesy of our fantastic local businesses. 11 AM – 3 PM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
March 22: Sensory and Bilingual Story Adventures. A unique programming experience combining bilingual storytelling with sensory-friendly activities, designed to engage children of all abilities. This inclusive program creates a welcoming space where stories come to life through interactive elements, fostering language development and sensory exploration in a fun and supportive environment. Saturdays at 11:00 AM in the Children’s Department.
Adult Craft: Stop by the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor for Flower Crown take-and-make crafts! While supplies last.
Coloring Contest for all ages: Color a picture and win a prize. Return entries by the end of the month. Entries will be displayed in the Children’s Room. Winners will be notified.
